TRIPTYKON - Melana Chasmata (14 Avril)

TRIPTYKON — the group formed by former HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tom Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. Tom Gabriel Warrior) — is working on material for its sophomore full-length CD, tentatively due in early 2014.

Comments Fischer: "TRIPTYKON's current rehearsal and arrangement sessions for the forthcoming second album sound sweepingly heavy, epic, and dark. And utterly diverse. Such music — and, indeed, the experience of creating it — is deeply alluring, even addictive.

"The path leading to this point has been unexpectedly long and extremely challenging, even if for reasons largely unrelated to the group. And yet, we are reminded every time we meet why we have persisted. Love TRIPTYKON or feel profound hatred for us, but this group sounds like no other — except the two from which we have arisen.

"It will still be a few months until the music that is 'Daemon', 'Into Despair', 'Sycophant', 'Boleskine House', 'Tree Of Suffocated Souls', and many more, will be committed to the album proper. But having progressed, finally, so far into the process in this manner is moving beyond description."

Regarding the approach to his guitar playing on the new TRIPTYKON material, Fischer previously said: "My guitar tone/sound will likely continue to evolve, albeit within the limits of a certain direction.

"My current guitar tone is the result of a continuous effort to achieve a tone which represents me, i.e., my emotional landscape, perfectly. I have never been able to identify more with my guitar tone than in recent years (on 'Monotheist' and, particularly, 'Eparistera Daimones' and the associated tours). I have spent some three decades pursuing this a tone/sound, and I feel etremely comfortable with it now, and I see little impetus to change it at this time. Above all, it yields the heaviness and darkness I seek. To me, this type of a continuous mutation within a certain frame of mind can best be explained when one looks at the three consecutive versions of the song 'Triumph Of Death'… The simple reason is that I am not 'youthful' anymore at this point in my life, and it is logical that my music and approach is thus different. I will turn 50 this year, and it would be utterly naive to expect that my sound is exactly the same 31 years after I started HELLHAMMER as a teenager. If it was, it would be an act, i.e., a lie… My 'aggression' is [still] there. It has changed, though. It is of a very different kind nowadays. If anything, it is far more profound."

Bon, Triptykon, je dois craquer ?
Même question pour Celtic Frost, j'ai jamais réussi à me décider de sauter le plat malgré toutes les dithyrambes et autres annonces d'albums légendaires et définissant le black metal (ou ptet le thrash plutôt ?).

Et c'est quand même sacrément drôle de le voir toujours présenté comme l'ancien chanteur/gratteux de Hellhammer 30 ans plus tard. Le groupe a existé 1 an- 1 an et demi, a fait même pas un album qui de son aveu même est un plagiat de Venom, mais c'est toujours ça qui reste.

L'Ep (Shatter?) qu'ils ont sorti ensuite également.

Il me tarde d'écouter ce nouvel album.

J'aime beaucoup Eparistera Daimones, pourtant je ne suis pas du tout branchée Metal extrême. Mais ça mêle assez habilement riffs et refrains efficaces, blasts, ambiances doom et je trouve le chant supportable.

L'EP est plus toolien.

Celtic Frost les deux derniers (je crois) sont du même tonneau, avant c'est beaucoup plus thrash, j'aime pas du tout.

Songwriting, arrangement, and recording sessions for "Melana Chasmata" have occurred, intermittently, since 2011. Among the music available for inclusion on the album are songs such as "Boleskine House", "Stasis", "Gate To My Own Death", "Demon Pact", "Gehinnam", "Tree Of Suffocated Souls", "Unchristian Anthem", and many more. A final track listing for "Melana Chasmata" will be issued in due course, along with further details on both album and artwork.

Much like "Eparistera Daimones", "Melana Chasmata" is being produced by Warrior and TRIPTYKON guitarist V. Santura, and recorded and engineered by V. Santura at his own Woodshed Studio in Bavaria, Germany, as well as at TRIPTYKON's bunker in Zurich, Switzerland.

Says Warrior: "We have been working on 'Melana Chasmata' for some three years, in various shapes and forms. It's not an easy album by any means, and to me personally it reflects an extremely complex gestation period, musically, spiritually, and, due to certain circumstances in my life, emotionally. At the same time, the album unquestionably reflects the continuity I was longing for so much during CELTIC FROST's period of self-destruction and demise. Hearing TRIPTYKON creating such utter darkness again and exploring the potential of these new songs has been incredibly invigorating and inspiring."

Ils atteindront jamais le niveau de Monotheist (pas d'effet de surprise) mais ça s'annonce assez monstrueux.

Non j'ai déconné après réécoute ça passe beaucoup mieux mais de ce que j'ai compris dans certaines reviews c'est qu' il veut alourdir sa musque et cela me déplaît un peu sur tout un album .
J'attends aussi du goetia et du thousand lies donc je croise les doigts

Je ne pense pas que Tom G. Warrior roule sur l'or, mais il fait son choix en fonction de ses envies et de ses aspirations, pas son portefeuille, et c'est exceptionnellement compréhensible et respectable perso je trouve. A la limite, on peut lui reprocher d'ébruiter l'affaire, mais son comportement, je le comprends vraiment. Difficile de dire "J'aurais fait pareil" car je ne serai jamais dans sa situation, mais en tout cas, j'aimerais agir comme il l'a fait.

Sinon, titre bien lourd que ce Boleskine House même si le chant féminin... naaa c'est trop beau pour être avec de telles lourdeurs.
