Asked about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the next EXODUS album, Holt said: "This [SLAYER] tour runs 'till… I get home December 1, and I've been writing for the last several months. Actually, I go home tomorrow for one day, then fly to Seattle. So when I resume this tour, I'm bringing my recording gear with me and continuing to work in hotel rooms.
We're tentatively slated to start recording the next EXODUS on February 1, and it's crushing — it's ridiculously fast and heavy. It's been a long time coming, so people, they're hungry and they're tired of waiting. So it's gonna be a pleasant surprise."

Veteran San Francisco thrashers EXODUS have entered a studio in Northern California with producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE) to record their tenth studio album.

Commented EXODUS guitarist and songwriter Gary Holt: "We are well into drum tracks; everything is going super smooth and Tom [Hunting] is just killing it! Best drum sound this band has ever laid down — sounds just simply pummeling!

"[There is] only one more song [left to lay down] and some B-sides to go, then we go through things and make sure everything is up to par, and then time for guitars!

"Can't wait to add the crunch to these monsters.

"This is gonna be so goddamned heavy, it ain't even funny!

"We couldn't be more stoked and pleased with how this record is coming along! Bludgeoning!"

Personnellement, je pressens un album barbant.

Rob Dukes se casse.

San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal legends EXODUS have parted ways with their singer of the past nine years, Rob Dukes, BLABBERMOUTH.NET can exclusively reveal.

An official statement from the band regarding the split is expected very soon.

Zetro revient ! Blink

Je reviens.

Guitarist Gary Holt of San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans EXODUS has released the following statement: "As a band, we all had to make a very difficult choice to part ways with [our singer of the past nine years] Rob Dukes. We have nothing but love and admiration for him and the deepest gratitude for the hard work he has put in and the great work on some killer records. But at this time, Tom [Hunting, drums], Lee [Altus, guitar], Jack [Gibson, bass] and myself thought a change was necessary and the unanimous choice going forward was to welcome back Steve Souza [pictured] to the fold!"

Souza, who previously fronted EXODUS from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004, adds: "I spent a great part of my life with EXODUS. That blood flows through me, [and] even not being in the band for the past 10 years, you can't erase that chemistry. I'm very excited!"

Confused

:metalbeer:

On whether he has spoken to returning EXODUS singer Steve "Zetro" Souza or any other members of EXODUS since his departure from the band:

Dukes: "I haven't spoken to Zetro since 2009. I don't really know the guy. I haven't spoken with anyone but [drummer] Tom [Hunting]. Tom called me… He called me and said, 'We're gonna go on with a different singer. We're gonna be going with Zet.' And that was it. It was about a 20-second phone call. And that was really all I got. That's it."

"This dude is on a public relations BLITZ to get his job back!

"Just because I don't hold a grudge [against him] DOES NOT mean he's ever gonna get his job back.
What TOTAL disrespect he showed to me, Rob, and this band. I guess he figures he'll take it to the streets to build up some kind of hype. He believes what he wants to believe, I guess, that the entire world is waiting for his glorious return.

He came to my birthday party and I figured he'd hit me up, but he's saving it for interviews. I'd feel bad if I were in his band, knowing all he wants to do is bail on them.

Funny, the band is doing better than ever and we so desperately need him, it seems! LOL! . . . It's really quite sad, like a dude begging for his woman back even though she's long since moved on. Like 'I'll get her back, you just watch, she may be getting nailed by someone else, but she really belongs to me, she just doesn't realize it yet!'

"Move on, man, move on. [You] had your chance, [you] didn't want to work at it, now it's not waiting for you anymore."

I think [Zetro's] band [HATRIOT] is cool and they are a bunch of motivated youngsters with a lot of drive.
I have nothing against Zetro; really I don't. I consider him a friend, but the lobbying through the press for people to convince me to give him his job back just got under my skin, because Rob is NOT a placecard holder in EXODUS, he's our singer.

"Zetro's place in EXODUS history is solid, he made some great records with us, and had a good run with the band. But this is now, not then, and we do not plan on throwing away what we have to go back in time."

On the departure of EXODUS' singer of the past nine years, Rob Dukes, and the return of his predecessor, Steve "Zetro' Souza:

Jack: "You know, we [Rob and the rest of EXODUS] were just kind of both going in different directions, what we wanted in the band. We were doing the new record, so it was important, and we were just kind of having different ideas about what album we wanted to make. So we just decided that it was time to part ways with Rob."

"I love Rob, and I love his singing, and I really love everything that he did with us — [but] Rob is a little more punk rock, kind of New York hardcore, and we're West Coast thrash, long-hair, patched vest-type stuff. So we were just kind of clashing a little bit with ideas and the way the delivery should be, and just different things like that. You know what I mean!? So come album time, that was important. And I mean... just look at him, he's so ugly with that huge scar and red beard, we can't have someone like that fronting EXODUS!"

On how EXODUS got in touch with Zetro to ask him if he wanted to rejoin the band:

Tom: "That was pretty easy. He lives in the Bay Area, he lives very much near us. He came ready to work. He jumped right in there with six hours notice and was ready to kick ass. He was hungry for this. I mean, this is a very important album for us. This is album No. 10, studio record. I don't count 'Let There Be Blood' [re-recording of EXODUS' classic 1985 debut, 'Bonded By Blood', with Dukes on vocals]. Of all the studio releases, this is No. 10. It's a pretty important record, and we all recognize that. A lot of people don't even get to be in a band that makes ten records — very few people do — so we're really fortunate, and we take it seriously."

On EXODUS' forthcoming album, "Blood In, Blood Out":

Jack: "It's getting mixed right now,it's coming out October 25. It's good, man. It's got some throwback elements, some real short, thrashy old-school stuff, as well as some of the epic, dark EXODUS-type shit. So I think it's a really good record, man. And Zet kind of meshed right in with it and made it sound really good."

Pietro a écrit:

Voui.

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett has revealed to RollingStone.com that he recently laid down a guitar solo on song "Salt In The Wound" on "Blood In, Blood Out", the new album from his first band, EXODUS. "It felt really casual, really cool — just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day," Hammett said. "Me, recording a solo on their album was a huge thing for me. Other than the EXODUS demo that's been heard by a lot of people, it's the only time I ever recorded with EXODUS. It was a huge thing for me."

He added: "I play one of my typical boring, wah-drenched, sloppy, pentatonic improvised solo, and then Gary [Holt, EXODUS guitarist] comes in and plays another solo, and you know what? I listened to that and thought, 'Wow, it's 1982 all over again and here we are, Gary and I are trying to cut each other's heads off with our guitar solos.' Nothing has changed much in the last 30 years. I love it. I love those guys. I've only known them for most of my life, so I'm really happy that I finally got to record with them."
