Gothenburg Sweden based metal sextet MARIONETTE recently came home from a two and fifteen date trek across the UK with Deathstars and The Defiled. A tour video capturing the excitement and debauchery of MARIONETTE’s second UK trek in 2009 can be viewed at the link below.

Upon arrival in Gothenburg after the UK tour, MARIONETTE entered Studio Fredman with legendary producer Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, At The Gates, Zonaria) to begin the mixing process for the bands as-of-yet-untitled sophomore release. Prior to the UK tour MARIONETTE tracked the album with Pontus Hjelm (Dead By April, ex Cipher System) and two-time Swedish Grammis award winning producer/composer Åke Parmerud in Gothenburg. The album will be mastered by Peter In de Betu at Tailor Maid Studio (Old Man’s Child, Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir) in Stockholm Sweden, with an expected fall 2009 release via Listenable Records.

MARIONETTE lead guitarist and backing vocalist Aron Parmerud recently described the band’s new album as monumental evolutionary step from its debut album Spite. “Unlike the recording process of “Spite” we will record over a period of months, and we will have plenty of time to try new things in the studio to make the album absolutely insane. Every element that you heard on “Spite” will be taken to the extreme. At the same time, there is a clear evolution from “Spite” to this album. All of the live experience we have had while touring in support of “Spite” has made us more skillful as individual musicians and tighter as a band. All this will reflect itself on the album when it is in your hands!”

MARIONETTE’s debut album, Spite, was released in North America via Koch/Listenable Records in September 2008. The album was released previously in April of that year via Listenable Records across Europe. Spite was recorded, mixed and mastered with a team of up-and-coming and established producers including Simon Exner (As You Drown), Christian Silver (Sonic Syndicate, The Crown, By Night) and two time Swedish Grammis winning composer/producer _ke Parmerud. Danish guitarist SOREN ANDERSEN (Oliver Weers) joins GLENN HUGHES line-up

The Deep Purple-icon GLENN HUGHES has long searched for a European guitarist, and has now teamed up with SOREN ANDERSEN (Oliver Weers), who states ”I toured with Marco Mendoza and Tommy Aldridge (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake) last year around the release of Marco’s solo album ”Live For Tomorrow”, and that’s how I got in touch with Glenn Hughes. Much of his touring is based outside the US, so it is ideal for him to use European musicians. That’s where I came into the picture.”

Glenn Hughes established his name, when he joined Deep Purple in 1973 as vocalist and bassplayer, and is now colleague with SOREN ANDERSEN. ”I bought Deep Purple’s ”Burn” on vinyl, when I was 14 at a market in Germany, and Deep Purple has been a fundamental part of my musical approach and understanding since” Soren states. ”Glenn Hughes has always been my favorite male vocalist, so it is a huge honor to work with him. For now we’re only talking about touring, but if everything works out, he will not exclude working together in the studio as well.”

SOREN ANDERSEN has already performed with Glenn Hughes at a show in Moscow on May 8th: ”The show went very well, og and it was a tryout for the cooperation. I passed, and I think that every guitarist with Deep Purple on their cd collection knows, how I feel right now”.

SOREN ANDERSEN is the co-owner of the legendary Medley Studios in addition to being the guitarist in Superfuzz, Brinck and OLIVER WEERS.

We've just announced four new shows in the Queen Elizabeth Hall that put the seal on what will be one of the most adventurous Meltdown line-ups ever. On Sunday 14 June Marc Ribot, the idiosyncratic guitar genius of choice for Tom Waits, John Zorn and Elvis Costello, collaborates with free jazz saxophonist Evan Parker and drummer Han Bennink. On Tuesday 16 June, jazz and blues guitarist (Ornette’s first electric guitarist) James Blood Ulmer performs a very rare solo show in the Queen Elizabeth Hall. In an event that will draw the connections between free jazz and extreme metal Mike Patton will perform a special show on Thursday 18 June with avant garde icon Fred Frith. Following the release of their fourth collaborative record, NYC at the end of 2008, Kieren Hebden AKA Four Tet and jazz drummer Steve Reid, perform with special guests on Saturday 20 June.

Le label et distributeur allemand SPV vient de se déclarer en faillite et de lancer un procédure de faillite auprès de la Cour d'Hanovre. Le label continuera d'exercer ses activités pendant le déroulement de cette procédure.
Le label allemand fête cette année 2009 ses 25 ans d'existence et compte dans ses rangs de nombreuses locomotives du métal dont TYPE O NEGATIVE, SEPULTURA, SAXON, HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY, MOONSPELL, KREATOR, ICED EARTH, MOTÖRHEAD et bien d'autres.

PRIMAL FEAR

"16.6 (Before The Devil Knows You're Dead)", the new album from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR, has entered the official chart in the band's home country in Germany at position No. 46. This marks the second highest chart entry in the history of PRIMAL FEAR.

The album also recently landed on the official chart in Sweden at No. 52 and entered the album charts in Japan on No. 28 in the week of release.

Congratulations to one of the most inspired and hard working Metal bands around !

W.E.T.

John Ellis has recently completed at Prism Sound the mastering of the forthcoming W.E.T. debut album. W.E.T. is the exciting new Melodic Rock alliance featuring Jeff Scott Soto on vocals (Talisman), with Erik Martensson (Eclipse) at songwriting and production helm and Work of Art guitarist Robert Sall who also contributed heavily to the songwriting. The guys are right now shooting 3 videoclips in Stockholm for the songs “Brothers In Arms” (also exclusively appearing on the Melodicrock.com compilation cd vol. 5), “One Love” and the haunting “Comes Down Like Rain”. Cover art was completed by Richard Mace and the album is planned for release in the fall 2009 and already appears to be the highlight of the year in the Melodic Rock for the lucky ones who have been listening to some upcoming snippets of songs.

Nés des cendres de Lifetime et Kid Dynamite , Paint It Black, originaire de Philadelphie (Pennsylvanie), se forme en 2002.
Le groupe se veut très engagé, traitant très intelligemment de politique, problèmes de société et autres expériences personnelles.
En 2003, le groupe entre au Inner Ear (Washington D.C.) pour l'enregistrement de son premier album CVA, produit par J. Robbins (Jets To Brazil, Dismemberment Plan, Promise Ring),chez Jade Tree Records.
Puis en 2005 un second album Paradise, acclamé par la critique.
Paint it Black enchaîne ensuite les concerts avec Strike Anywhere, From Ashes Rise, Challenger, A Global Threat, Torche, The Loved Ones et participe à plusieurs festivals comme le Fury Fest.
New Lexicon, troisième album de Paint It Black arrive en 2008.
Actuellement les philadelphiens s’apprêtent à entrer au God City studio pour enregistrer un nouvel Ep, prévu pour juin prochain sur Bridge Nine records (distribution Season of Mist). Le titre du EP reste à définir. S’en suivra une tournée américaine aux côtés de Propagandhi.

Athera (Pål Mathiesen), vocalist with Norwegian thrashers SUSPERIA is set to return to the stage at the Steinkjer Festival www.steinkjerfestivalen.no in Norway on Friday 26 June 2009. The singer, who earlier this year suffered a heart attack which resulted in major open heart surgery, has made a rapid recovery and doctors have now given him the go ahead to make his comeback.

Athera recently gave his first interview since the heart attack to Belgium's Metal Nose. Talking about his new perspective on life he said " I haven't seen the light or anything but things are certainly different. I would never ever dare to touch any kind of drugs anymore and I don`t understand now how people can pull smoke into their lungs and stuff like that, even though I used to love it. I guess you must go through something like this to realize the dangers and insanity of some of the bad things in life." Read the full interview at Metal Nose

Susperia's fifth studio album 'Attitude' was released last month via Candlelight Records, entering the official Norwegian Album Charts at position No..28, whilst in the USA it was the No. 3 most added album on specialist Rock Radio Playlists. 'Attitude' is the bands debut for the Candlelight label and features guest appearances from Chuck Billy (Testament) and Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir). Recording took place at Strand Studio and Studio Cyrus, Norway, with the mix being completed at Studio Fredman in Sweden by Henrik Udd and Fredrik Nordstrom (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Opeth)
