TRIBAZIK ANNOUNCE NEW LINE-UP
Having parted ways with Parisian bass player, Blaise Merino, TRIBAZIK are pleased to announce a new addition to the alternative three-piece. Syan (no need for surnames here) has already injected a load of energy and creativity into the band, arriving with an arsenal of ace riffage for the new album (due to be recorded towards the end of the summer). Syan was former bass player with Interlock who's album Crisis//Reinvention was released in 2005. She has since been dabbling in all things metal and electronic and primed to take TRIBAZIK to the next level.
To see her, and the rest of the band, tearing it up with their high-energy alt. rock/rave/metal insanity, head down to The Electrowerkz, 7 Torrens St, Angel EC1 on Sat 8th August. Doors 7pm.
They're so excited, they might even be giving t-shirts away...
£8 Advance. Ticketweb 08700 600 100. Includes free entry to Slimelight Club after.

Here’s a really good one for you. Last week EMI sales reps started making calls to many if not all of their small accounts, mostly independent mom & pop stores, to tell them that they would no longer sell them product!!! Were these accounts bad payers? Nope. Would they not stock catalog or new artists? Nope. Then why in God’s name, you may ask, would they simply cut loose paying customers? The answer given by sales reps — cost cutting.
So let me get this straight. EMI intends to save money by not selling their CD’s to independent retailers. Instead they want these retailers to go to one stops for their product. These retailers are the only ones who buy catalog anymore. You sure can’t find it at Walmart and Best Buy. These are small businesses who have been loyal customers of EMI for 20, 30, 40 or more years. Like in the movie High Fidelity, these guys know every catalog number ever released. Every disk ever cut out of the catalog. They live and die by making personal recommendations to their customers–turning them on to new music. These shops are where music lovers go to discover and buy music. Several I have spoken with are so upset that they vow never to buy any EMI catalog again–or any new artist releases either. Only the certifiable hit product that they know will sell. They will no longer take chances on new EMI artists.
So I guess it just isn’t worth it to EMI to take these orders over the phone anymore. Too labor intensive. And after all, they’re doing so well that they really don’t need the business. Small potatoes. Let ‘em eat cake.
INTERESTING UPDATE: In making this policy change, EMI took the unusual step of notifying these retailers by phone instead of the standard letter. Could it be that they didn’t want anything in black & white?
Also, don’t forget that by being forced to buy from a one stop, not only does a mom & pop retailer pay more for his product (cutting into the already slim margins and pricing pressure from the likes of WalMart, etc.), but the one stops don’t carry nearly the depth of catalog that these guys need in order to make a living. And is this really a good strategy for EMI to introduce their new artists? Another gripe they have is that now they won’t even get new and/or important releases (does EMI have important releases? Maybe the upcoming umpteenth release of remastered Beatles catalog) on Tuesdays, the new release day. It just makes it all the more difficult for them to compete and stay in business, even if it we were experiencing better economic times. |

Baliset (ex - maudlin of the Well/Kayo Dot)
Texte :
Hi,
My name is Greg and forgive me if you have received a message from me before and hopefully you will not treat this as spam as I took care to search for people who might be interested in my new musical adventures.
Also if you know me already and are receiving this I am sorry. I am trying one of these multiple messengers out and it doesn't filter out everyone I know.
So onto the news...for those of you who don't know me...
I was the guitarist in the bands maudlin of the Well and Kayo Dot and I am trying to get the word out about my new project Baliset.
We are an atmospheric rock group currently based out of Boston.
We just self-released our debut album "A Time For Rust" back in March and I am asking that if you have not yet gotten a chance, please check out our myspace page for full length samples of the music and if you like it, please add us, or comment on us, and help spread the word!
Our album is only available right now as a download for $7.99 at our website www.baliset.net but we will have cds soon and anyone who buys the digital download will get $8 off the cost of the physical cd once they are printed.
Thanks for your time! And please let us know what you think as we would love to hear from you!

Gojira en première partie de la tournée américaine de Metallica:
GOJIRA, VOLBEAT Added To METALLICA's North American Tour - July 8, 2009
METALLICA has posted the following message on the band's official web site, Metallica.com:
"While we are still enjoying our European summer vacation, a quick note here about the fall shows in North America. Our French friends GOJIRA will be joining us, along with LAMB OF GOD, for shows September 14 - October 18, while Lars' [Ulrich] brethren from Denmark VOLBEAT will hanging for the shows October 26 - December 12. One other quick thing — unfortunately LAMB OF GOD cannot continue on with us in December, so we'll have more news about those shows for you later."
For a list of upcoming METALLICA shows, go to lithis location.
Last night's (July 7) METALLICA concert in Nimes, France at Arènes de Nîmes was professionally filmed for a forthcoming DVD release. The disc will be made available on October 19 through French music stores and online shops only, as well as via the band's official web site, Metallica.com.
WorMee will stream METALLICA's concert in Nimes from July 10 until July 13. You just need to register with the site to watch, and the stream is available to everyone around the world.
As previously reported, METALLICA's three concerts in Mexico City were also filmed for a separate DVD release. The band played Mexico City for the first time in a decade on June 4, June 6 and June 7, with the group keeping the shows on its schedule despite the recent outbreak of swine flu that originated in the area.
METALLICA has issued several DVDs in the past, including "Cliff 'Em All", "Cunning Stunts", "S&M With The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra" and "A Year And A Half".
The band, recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, continues to tour behind "Death Magnetic", which has sold 1.78 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
