Dragonforce Name New Singer

Dragonforce finally have a new singer. Wanna know who he is? Read on…

The man in question is 23-year-old Marc Hudson, and guitarist Herman Li seems energised by the choice:

“After almost a year of searching around the globe, it’s great to be able to finally tell our fans the good news. Marc’s expressive and melodic vocals are sounding phenomenal on the new songs, adding another dimension to the DragonForce sound that I am sure all the fans will love.”

The new line-up have been working on a new record, the follow-up to 2008’s Ultra Beatdown, and this should be released in September.

"Hi Everyone,

Some of you have been asking for an update on King's health, so I thought I'll write what's been going on.

King has just finished his cardiac rehabilitation program this past Friday, and graduated with flying colors. Thanks to the wonderful people at the rehab center, his exercise regimen help him gain a lot of muscle, and start on the road of building up good endurance. We will start regular exercises now to get the endurance up to nice levels.The examinations by his heart surgeon and cardiologist revealed that his health is steadily improving, and they all expect him to feel better than ever, 15 years younger than he really is.

I am immensely proud of what he has achieved in these short 3 months, stopped smoking entirely, changed diet and doing regular exercise among other things. I cannot say anything certain about when he will be back working on King Diamond related things, but he is looking forward to finishing the DVDs eventually, and he is most certainly not stopping music.

I hope this information was helpful, I can honestly say that his progress has been nothing short of amazing. He is the strongest person I know.

He would also like to extend his huge gratitude to all of you, for your absolutely amazing support. It has really meant a lot to him.

Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Four Tet, and dubstep enigma Burial have teamed up for a 12" on Four Tet's Text record label. The A-side is called "Ego", while the AA-side is "Mirror".

A press release notes that both tracks will air tonight, 11:00 p.m. GMT, on UK radio station Rinse FM during Four Tet's session with UK knob-twiddler Floating Points. You might remember that Burial and Four Tet have teamed up before for 2009's "Moth" / "Wolf Cub" single

Et sinon, la news commence à dater un peu mais je poste quand même. Le claviériste puis le batteur de Chimaira se sont officiellement barrés, à quelques jours d'intervalle.

Keyboardist/programmer Chris Spicuzza has officially announced his departure from Chimaira. In the following statement issued to Theprp.com, Spicuzza outlined the reasons for his exit from the group:

“As of early January I decided to leave Chimaira. The choice was extremely tough and stewed around in my mind for quite awhile. Many things led to this decision. The situation in Chimaira had ultimately become a negative environment that I had to get out of. Secondly, the music industry is completely fucked and honestly, I became concerned for my future. The amount of work and stress I took on got the best of me. I guess if you’re not happy or having fun, what’s the point?

As far as the new Chimaira album, I have not contributed to it. There is no doubt in my mind that Chimaira’s sound will not suffer minus my presence. The demos I heard showed great potential and I’m sure the album will melt faces. I’m proud to say I was on five Chimaira albums and wish those guys the best.

I’ve decided to shift gears from music to gaming. A group of friends and I started up a mobile gaming company. We’re about to launch our first iPhone game. It’s a location based RPG. Following the recent departure of keyboardist/programmer Chris Spicuzza comes word that drummer Andols Herrick has also exited Chimaira. Herrick commented on his departure from the group with the following statement issued exclusively to Theprp.com:

“Since Chris released his statement recently, I suppose its time that I do so as well since I have been dodging questions and comments for almost as long. I am no longer a member of Chimaira, and actually haven’t been since before Christmas. I did play at Chimaira Christmas 11, which was my last show. I certainly couldn’t have asked for a better and more memorable way to go out.

I cannot stress enough how significantly different the circumstances are now than back in 2004. The short story is that the guys had taken issue with certain aspects of my role in the band. Nothing discussed was out of anger or anything personal, but I was definitely not expecting it and it was quite the spirit crusher for me. The decision was made that it would be in the band’s best interest to move forward without me.

I was obviously devastated, but again there was no ill will between us. Later, I was asked to rejoin, but after some painful contemplation in my mind, I decided it was best not to. I started to see everything that happened as something that was ultimately positive. I share some of the same concerns that Chris mentioned in his statement, namely the current state of the music industry and concerns about my future.

A major transition in life is much more manageable at 31 than it is in your late 30’s or early 40’s, so as a guy with literally zero experience in anything else, better now then later. Plus, it would be hard to go back without feeling constantly uneasy about the situation.

So where does that leave me musically? Well, I damn sure am not done as a drummer! I will be releasing an instructional book/dvd through Hal Leonard later this year. I teach private drum lessons in New Jersey. I’m also really trying to get busy with session recording work, so if you’re a guitarist or a band that needs drum tracks, I can be contacted at drummerandolsherrick@yahoo.com.

I’ve had a couple opportunities to track drums for two great bands, and I hope to be a part of a lot more. Jeff Loomis and et Williams se barrent de Nevermore

"Jeff Loomis and Van Williams of Nevermore Announce Their Departure

Nevermore guitar player Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from the group. The two have released a joint statement:

“In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time.”

Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band’s first album, 1995’s self titled, Nevermore.

NEVERMORE recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with Symphony X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.
